Healthier Trees and Shrubs

Sweet Peet® helps trees and shrubs thrive by boosting soil microbial activity. A stronger soil ecosystem fends off a variety of plant diseases and supports long-term growth.

Protection from Acid Rain

Apply Sweet Peet® as mulch around the base of trees and shrubs, spreading 3–4 inches deep across the entire area within the drip line of overhanging branches. Taper the mulch so it does not touch the trunk or shrub stems. Reapply once a year.

  • If mounding occurs after several years, remove some of the old mulch before adding a fresh layer.

  • Sweet Peet® forms a protective barrier that absorbs acid rain and gently neutralizes it before it reaches the root zone.

  • For trees and shrubs growing in lawn areas, follow our established lawn directions.

Natural Weed Control

Sweet Peet® doesn’t just feed the soil — it also prevents weeds. By smothering weed seeds and creating an inhospitable surface through its unique cation exchange, Sweet Peet® keeps weeds from establishing without harmful chemicals.

Year-Round Benefits

  • Winter: Protects roots of young perennials and bulbs from cold damage.

  • Summer: Retains soil moisture and limits weed seed germination.

Soil Enrichment and Balance

Unlike synthetic mulches, Sweet Peet® improves the soil as it breaks down:

  • Encourages beneficial earthworms and soil organisms.

  • Maintains a near-neutral pH, balancing both acidic and alkaline soils.

  • Releases locked-up nutrients, making them available to feeder roots.

Protect, enrich, and restore your landscape with Sweet Peet® — the organic mulch that does more than cover the ground.
